Varmakkalai Martial Arts

Silambam is a battlefield art, that was patronized by the 3 Ancient Tamil Kingdoms of the Cheras, Cholas and Pandiyas.

There are different weapons used in Silambam, but the main is a long stick. Using the long stick, you can add some sharp weapons to one end and use the long stick as many different weapons.

The Short Stick fighting methods are known as Siramakalai. There are two different schools of Short Stick fighting systems known as Bhiman Vazhi and Vali Vazhi. Training in Short Stick is later used with Swords as the students advance in their training and are taught the Sword fighting systems.

Other than these two weapons, Silambam weapons including Sword and Shield, Deer Horn, Flexible sword and Varma kol.

Adimurai is a Combat Science given by Ancient Siddhars. This is a very secretive art practiced (still today) by a very rare group of elite warriors known as Santroor (since Tamil Sangam times), and hence this system is still confined to the Southern most parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala like Trivandrum, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli etc. This system of Martial Arts is also known as Nadan Ati and has developed to it's current system over the years from the South Travancore regions.

Adimurai incorporates Empty Hand fighting systems and also weapons where the target is to strike the Vital Varma points on the opponents body.

Hence, this art does not require a person to have strong physique or bold personality. This, this art is suitable for kids, adults and seniors citizens especially women can also learn this art and can benefit from the self defence it teaches.
